The sun lifts its cherry face
from dawns dim mist. Light
sneaks around window blinds,
stretching gold pillars across the bed.
With a crooked squint, her smile crinkles,
like leaves outlined on the wall. And outside
trees glow with a sudden buzz;
a thousand clamoring rebirths. A breath
through her pale lips, bleeds
against my naked chest. A wisp
of perfumed hair chases about
like fire flies under my nose.
I await the flutter of her eyes, before breathing.
